Great post, dare! That was at the old, downtown circuit by Cobo Hall. Cheever was in a Ligier-Matra. I think it was in June. It was the first year in Detroit, after Watkins Glen went bankrupt. The race stayed there through 88, when F1 asked for too much money. (Imagine that!)

Champ Car raced there from 89-2000. From about 92 on, they moved the race to Belle Isle, a park island in the middle of the river between Detroit and Windsor, Ont. IndyCar and ALMS will race there this September.

Cosworth, remember in a IRL race last year when
Marco and Dana accused Eddie of causing them
to crash? He was like I've won the Indy 500 and raced
F! so I don't need these kids telling me how to drive

Modesty was never Eddie's strong suit!
