Hi mate, I loved James. Can anybody remember the controversy that surrounded his race at Brands in 1976?? I can remember the crowd being upset about him being disqualified, not sure but did'nt they restart the race??
I've searched for more info on this but can't seem to find the right info!
Did'nt he also drive a race with only half a gearstick once!?

He was also a brilliant commentator after his driving career was over, not sure if people overseas are aware of this!?!

Thanks for the post

Neil: Try this link-

A brief recap of the race. The problem seems to have been over him restarting in a back-up car.

in the 76 Spanish gp Hunt was disqualified because
his car was too wide, that was later overturned and Hunt got the win

In article says Hunt and Murray Walker almost came to blows
over one of their arguments.Anyone remember it and what the
argument was over

Got a feeling Dare, not certain without delving, but I think it was a personality thing, but don't quote me on that

that must have been early in Hunt's broadcasting
career, because I saw a tribute video about Hunt where
Murray was in tears talking about the death of Hunt

Murray could get pretty emotional anyway, but have you read his autobiography, he never slated Hunt off in that so he never held a grudge against him.

find a f1 book in the city where I live
