Alonso thrills the fans

Double world champion Fernando Alonso thrilled competition prize winners at the historic Goodwood circuit on Tuesday when winners of the Vodafone Hot Laps competition enjoyed a once in a lifetime experience in a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren with the McLaren Mercedes driver.

 

After the Spaniard had the chance to thrill, the excited fans then had the opportunity to ride with Chris Goodwin, a test and development driver for the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. One of the passengers was none other than former Champion jockey Frankie Dettori, a thrill for Alonso as well.

“I have really enjoyed today. Having Frankie join us was a real highlight, as it’s always a pleasure to meet a fellow sportsman who has succeeded in achieving their dreams.”

“I was really excited when Vodafone McLaren Mercedes invited me here today. It has been great to meet Fernando,” Frankie Dettori added. “Sitting with him in the car and seeing how focused he is, it’s easy to see why he is a two-time World Champion. I hope Fernando and the team have a great season.”
