F1 on Ebay
« on: May 26, 2007, 04:10:08 AM »
You all should check out the f1 merchandise on ebay.Their
among the google adds on the bottom left of the forum page.

Just bid on and won a brand new 2004 Sauber Fisichella cap.
Paid the whopping price of $2.99 US plus $9.99 shipping.
Shipping was high because it's from England to USA :D

I tend to wait until my local shop sells old gear for £4. It might not be noticeably cheaper than eBay, but the pleasure of rummaging through their "manager's offer" tub is considerable.

We're not that lucky here in The States. I can't think of a single place in my home state of Ohio or Dare's home state of Kentucky that carry F1 swag. I can only think of a few places in the country that do.

So did I. Some things show up now and then at Big Lots. I got a 1/18 scale die cast of Hill's Lotus 49 Cosworth from it's debut at Zanvoort in 67. Think I gave $5 for it.

Like the adverts say, "You never know..."  I recently found 1/24 scale Revell plastic models of JV's 97 championship Williams Renault, for $4. I also got a 1/43 die cast of Marshall Teague's 1952 NASCAR Hudson Hornet!

I restrict myself to 1/43rd scale F1s only, but I recently walked into a shop and found a load of really old models .......... and spent a small fortune. Things like Pacifics, Simteks, the old Brabham Alfa.

Anyone else collect F1 models?

Several of us do. I usually just do 1/43, but the Lotus 49 is my favorite F1 car. couldn't pass up a deal like that!

Great car I agree. With it's Cosworth DFV it started a new Era.

I watched Clark win at Silverstone with it, and i have a water colour of Clark winning first time out at Zandvoort with it in the same year.

Incidentally the water colour is signed by the artist, and by Keith Duckworth.

I too have quite a few 1/43rd scale Lotus 49s. Clark, Hill and Emo, and one of John Love too as well as the Rob Walker car of Jo Siffert.

Don't get me started on F1 replica models.  I had one massive thread on the pitlane about them.  Completely hijacked a thread!

The only scale models I have are a 1:43 1995 Frentzen Sauber and a 1:18 2004 Valentino Rossi bike (a 1:43 motorbike would be tiny!).

There was a time (early eighties) when I made 1/32nd F1 models for use on Scalextric tracks.  Like most of my obsessions, it flew up its own backside in the end as I became more and more picky about the details (even the drivers' helmets had to have the correct artwork and advertising) and I was quite relieved when the friend I used to race them with moved away and I could stop.

I left them back in England when I left and recently found out, when I asked my son if they were still there, that they have disappeared, no doubt thrown out in some big clean-up.  But hey, what's done is dung, as I always say...  ;)
Never mind me - read http://f1insight.madtv.me.uk/ :D
