New research shows that female drivers may be more dangerous on the roads because of their shoes. Men have been claiming that they are better at driving than women for many years but now it seems that our female friends have an excuse for their bad road skills. It has nothing to do with ability but is in fact almost entirely down to their footwear.
Research by insurance firm Sheila's Wheels shows that women who wear high heels are running the risk of losing control of their vehicle and crashing. Heels are not the only dangerous footwear, with flip-flops also cited as being a menace. According to the research, 65 per cent of women would gladly accept 'better guidelines' on what kind of footwear to have on while driving.
Sheila's Wheels also warns that loose items on the floor of a car can be a danger in case they roll beneath the pedals.
