From looking at the video its seems LH nearly passed the safety car as that slowed in the bend I'm sure it is down to conditions and as others have said watch the guy in front of you not the guy in front of the guy in front. :good:

Oh! I liked Schumi the complete package. ;)

Hamilton didn't look to be at fault. I see that the FIA is re-opening the investigation based on this video at the behest of Scuderia Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost. And we all know how impartial the FIA are.

Ok, I have a new take on this, and I can't really understand why the FIA would bother to 're-open' the investigation against LH.  The FIA should investigate themselves because they created this entire scenario.

I thought Vettel had seen Hamilton already through a corner as he was approaching it, but that's not what happened.

Hamilton came up on the SC a bit too quick (almost overtaking him as you said), braked, then moved off-line in case someone else was coming quick behind him (not to lure them into an accident, but to stay out of the way in case someone was as surprised as he had been).  Had Webber overshot Hamilton and slowed gradually, instead of slamming on the brakes (in fear of getting penalized by the FIA) it would have been a safer thing to do and then drift back into position shortly afterwards).

Bottom line is that Vettel should still have been paying more attention and perhaps giveing a bit more room (What is that road rule again?  One second for every 10mph between you and the guy ahead?  Oh you white van guys won't have a clue.).

But the real problem is the rule itself (i.e. the FIA).  They either have to relax the 'no position changing during SC periods' rule to maybe getting the running order sorted out by the last few corners, or add another clause in the rule that says all cars MUST stay a minimum of 20m or so between each other at all times during SC - until the last 3 corners or something).  I still don't think Hamilton was at fault - the slow pace of the SC through the tight corners caught him by surprise, and he just tried to get out of the way...Webbers and Vettels reactions were slow, or they were way too close.

I DO however think that at other times while behind the SC, Lewis did show bad judgement with his brake warming or whatever, but this incident wasn't caused by him.

I think Mark Webber put it into context perfectly, " Thats what happens when you  let f*cking kids out "

Webber's got his share of dirty laundry, he shouldn't be so unforgiving.

Common sense from the FIA and a bit of Murray Walker on the same day.

I thought that even the bent FIA couldn't possibly do anything so daft.

And thank goodness they removed poor Vettel's penalty too.

Common sense has finally prevailed. But for how long. I wonder what c*ck up they are going to produce in China.
