Monjuich has just had an event to celebrate its 75th anniversary.  This clip shows a little bit of the catastrophic 1975 event.  The drivers agreed to drive slowly in qualifying for safety reasons.  As usual the drivers agreement was broken as soon as they were let loose.  Emerson Fittipaldi did drove slowly and failed to qualify.  Possibly the best decision he ever made.

It is amazing to think this circuit was so bad ten years after Jackie Stewart started his safety campaign.

Now that was one race that should never have happened. You would have thought that fences not being placed in the ground correctly would be a pretty reasonable basis for not holding the event. Unfortunately, money took control, and disaster resulted. :(
