Alonso has left the building!

So FA has left McLaren and the merry -go-round as to who will replace him can start.

They are all saying the same thing so it must be true. Red Bull are the favorites to sign him or so they say so he wont be WC next year!

I would imagine he'll go back to Renault and if that doesn't work out success wise, he'll be at Ferrari before long. Not sure what he'd do at RBR.

It's all over the net.

I love Alonso's statement that there have been rumours of favouritism but we were always equal.  So why ask for an equality steward?

I guess the driver market is going to start dropping into place over the next couple of weeks.

At least everone is finally being civil to each other. I think Renault still have the inside track, but I can't see Alonso letting himself get teamed up with any driver that he sees even as the slightest threat. (i.e., Kovalainen) This could help Fisi keep his ride there.

From one rookie to the next! Better got to RBR and partner an old timer like Coulthard....

wish i'd bought one of Alonso's caps this year, might be worth a few quid in a few years time. Never mind.

a bloody good move - no way were coolhand ron and fiery fernando ever to get on - poles apart and i will never believe all the equality hype as nothing more than PR press release shite

i also believe a two time reigning world champion should have been shown more respect even a little fawning but hard even impossible to do with a team mate as gifted as lewis!

still he was the reigning world champion

fernando brought a whole lot of cred [and perhaps some GP winning smarts?] to a struggling team that lets face it were dismal also rans in 2006 even with the great and now world champion KR

but look what he has done and will do under wily flavio who knows how to handle FA far more than ron ever could

i wish him every success and hope he will even blow KR and LH into the weeds!

just a thought lads. ::) wouldn't that be fun though?

Nothing would honestly make me happier than reading that FA could not get a race seat for the 08 season...... I think it would take a week for me to stop laughing..... as for fawning over a World Champion, it is silly... all that matters in life is what you do now.

Just my opinion though......

Alonso has reportedly been offered a return to Renault.

"I have presented a project for the future to Fernando,'' Renault boss Flavio Briatore was quoted as saying Saturday on the Web site of Gazzetta dello Sport. "If his desires coincide with ours, it can happen.''

"I know how much he can still give Renault,'' Briatore said. "But a one-year deal would make no sense.''
