Good one, Dare.

A couple more things about Spa. The rainstorm came about very suddenly (Don't they always at Spa?) Gurney in his Eagle backed off. Phil Hill in the Ford GT camera car didn't and shot right by the Eagle, even though he wasn't supposed to pass any of the actual race cars. It made for a great shot that is in the movie.

Frankeheimer needed a link to lead into the rain shots. He came up with the idea of showing a stopwatch and dripping water on it. In teh film, that's Frankenheimer's hand holding the watch.

The link must be several years old. The F1 movie that Stallone wanted to make turned in to Driven. That's why Burt Reynold is in a wheel chair - he's supposed to be Sir Frank. I have no idea who the champion German driver was supposed to be. ;) After Bernie told him to take a hike, he went to Tony George about doing it at Indy. Tony told him to buzz off, too. That left Champ Car.

your right Cos,that article was from 1999.

After seeing a part of Driven Champ Car
should have told him to take a hike, truly
one of the worse racing films ever made
