Malaysian firm sees gap in market for 'Islamic car'

Car firm Proton is planning to develop an ‘Islamic car’ for Muslim drivers, it has been reported.

The vehicle would have special features such as a dedicated space to keep a copy of the Koran and a headscarf, as well as a compass pointing to Mecca.

Proton is said to be considering teaming up with manufacturers in Iran and Turkey to work on the new car. Officials in Iran are believed to have originally suggested the idea for the unique vehicle.

Proton believes there is a huge gap in the market for a Muslim car and plan to sell the vehicle to the global market.

‘We will identify a car that we can develop and produce it in Malaysia, Iran or Turkey,’ Proton Chief Executive Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir told reporters on a visit to Iran.

‘For Proton, we are more than happy because we have products that we can share.’

Additions to the range will eventually include the Sadaam Sedan and the top of the range Alla u Akbar All Wheel Drive limousine. This latter model will have a self destruct button on the dashboard. Optional extras include a button on the passenger side too.

They tried to sell a Christian Fundamentalist car over here, but it would only turn to the right!

Easy guys - being Muslim is not a bad thing, nor does it mean you have any alliegance to Bin Ladin or any of the other terrorists from the middle east.  Most Muslims don't have a clue who Bin Ladin even is.  Make fun of the car, not the entire religion.

Don't forget that the Irish were masters at terrorism long before anyone paid attention to (or mucked about politically and militarilly - if that's a word -  with) the Muslim world.

We have been mucking about politically and militarily with the muslim world for over a thousand years.  The crusades for example.  The creation of the state of Israel.  The creation of the state of Pakistan.  etc etc

It is an ancient British tradition that the Americans have picked up from the time of the second world war.  We just can't help going into other peoples' countries and screwing them up.
