Rock Hall of Fame 2008
« on: December 14, 2007, 07:11:37 PM »
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation has announced its inductees for 2008. The official ceremony will be March 10th in New York City. The Class of '08 is:

The Ventures :yahoo:
The Dave Clark 5
John Mellencamp
Leonard Cohen :yahoo:
Madonna

In the Sideman category, bluesman Little Walter will be honored.

Nominated, but not chosen, were Africa Bambaataa, The Beastie Boys, Chic and Donna Summer.

I'm a fan of all of then except Madonna. The Ventures have long been my favorite rock band. They will celebrate 50 years together in 2008.

Dave Clark 5  lol

Beastie Boys have done some classic stuff in my view, Paul's Boutique and Check Your Head being my favourite 2 albums of theirs.
Chic done some good tracks too.

I'm a Mellencamp fan, although he's still John Cougar to me.

Madonna improved with age.  When she started singing, her voice was thin as a reed.  She's developed some depth with age, but she's still an acquired taste.

Just a guess Raindancer but someone amongst that fine lineup must already be in the Hall of Fame. Surely there is some justice in the world of music even if there is precious little in F1.

Many of them are. All of the previous inductees are listed on a crawl at the bottom of the following page:

Thanks Gentlemen ! I don't really follow the "Rock Hall of Fame". Apologies for the Gaffe.
I think the three best guitarists in the world were in my opinion

Richie Blackmore
Eric Clapton
Jimmy Page.

There are others and it is very controversial but my choice boils down to these three.

Good list, Rainy!

I'd have to add Scotty Moore. He retired earlier this year at the age of 76. He's a session player out of Memphis. Most of the guitar riffs on 50's - 60's recordings of Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Rick Nelson and other rockabillies are Scotty's work. He also worked with Billy Swan, Charlie Rich, Ernest Tubb and others.

Right Boss. I haven't had the opportunity at times to listen to a few of them but I guess its very amateurish to slot these greats.
