Why does the 2008 Mclaren F1 car have '22' as Hamilton should be number '3'

Because Max took all McLaren's constructor's points from them and aside from the winner of the driver's championship numbers are assigned in constructors' championship order so McLaren are last.

They are last in the pit lane line up to, they even had them last in the line up at the Autosport show, I think it was just in case Mr E showed up again.

I think they'll have less room to set up their Hospitality Center at most circuits, too. At least, with the new garages at Monaco, they won't have to set everything up on top of the hill, like Minardi used to. They had to tow the cars down the hill at the start of every session, than back up the hill afterwards.

The official excuse for putting McLaren last in the Autosport (17 January 2008 edition) was that the two most popular cars would be at opposite ends of the exhibit and that it would therefore be easier for people to see the cars.

Mclaren may get some small beneft from being at the opposite end of the pit lane, if they are able to employ some novel strategies in races they just might throw Ferrari a curved ball.

Is there any rule that prevents a car, ahead of another in the race, from making a bit slower entry to the pits in order that they may gain a half second to use on the stop as they will be able to exit cleanly from the opposite end of the pit lane? Just a thought!
