We seem to be going through a spell of deaths of old racing drivers.

Paul Frere has died at the age of 91 having never recovered from injuries sustained while testing a Honda Civic Type R on the Nurburgring in 2006.  At 89 years of age he was still able to tackle the 'Ring with such speed that when he lost the car he punctured both lungs, shattered his pelvis and smashed a few ribs. 

He is best known nowadays as a journalist and author but he raced in F1 for Ferrari and his most famous racing achievement is probably winning the 1960 LeMans 24 hours with Olivier Gendebien in a Ferrari 250TR.
