Is it really possible that Paul Tracy still doesn't have an IRL drive?  I can't believe it!  Who are all these wannabe's - Danica...c'mon, she's little more than a grid girl!  And these Brits!  Wheldon, Wilson and Manning!  Brits can't drive ovals - EVERYONE knows that!

Seriously though (yeah, don't jump all over me, I was kidding!  I'm actually a Wheldon fan), I'm surprised that no teams have even thrown an extra car on the grid just to get Tracy in one.  He's likely to be pretty cheap this year since Forsythe is paying his salary.  What a shame.  It's c*ck-ups like this that will flush any hope the new series has of succeeding.  Watch for the Edmonton race to lose money this year, and if Toronto gets back on the schedule, there will be far fewer Canadians in the stands without a Canadian driver.

This all boils down to the last minute nature of the merger. If this would have happened in December, it would be better sorted out by now.

There's a big problem for Paul Tracy: he's still under contract to Forsythe Racing! Worse, Tracy said he hasn't been able to contact Gerald Forsythe. Forsythe has not been reached for comment since releasing a statement that Forsythe Championship Racing is disbanding.

"I'm under contract to Forsythe, and obviously I can't go out and start talking to other teams while I'm under contract," Tracy said. "I've yet to even be able to get hold of Gerry or [team director] Neil [Micklewright] to get an answer on that."

I just received this on today's AutoWeek Daily Drive e-newsletter. Andretti Green Racing's promotional company, AGR Promotions, has signed a letter of intent to acquire the rights to the long-running Champ Car street race in Toronto, all but assuring it of a spot on the 2009 IndyCar Series calendar.
