Ferrari Lollipop missing?
« on: March 31, 2008, 11:16:52 PM »
I noticed that Ferrarri did not have a Lollipop man at Malaysia and appeared to have some sort of signal system hanging over the front of the car for pitstops. Did anyone else notice this? I may have been asleep and it was this way in Aus as well.
Is this the wave of the future?
Who controls it? (the signals)
How soon will others follow suit?

I found this pix on the Reuters site, dated 2008-03-16 09:50:41 UTC. Sure enough, there's not a lollipop in sight. We'll all have to watch more carefully this week-end at Bahrain.

I don't see the signal system hanging over it...could it be that they are relying on an audio signal?

Yeah, I can see it.  I found the same picture on the autosport website and enlarged it to the 3x view (I am a subscriber) and you can see a device hanging down clearly.  I can see it in the small picture too.  It has Brembo written on it and is a very narrod device.

I know the fueler's helmet has red, yellow and green l.e.d's in the corner of the visor that thells him if the hose is connected and the fuel is flowing. I wonder if these lights are repeaters of those.

This is quite clearly a movable aerodynamic device and the team should have all points deducted for 2008 and Montezemolo should write an immediate letter of apology including exact co-ordinates of where the bodies are buried.  This penalty will be rescinded if Luca agrees to attend Max's next party in London, however...
