It is suggested that, to follow on from the F1 Commission's decision to scrap third cars and drivers, official free practice on Friday could be scrapped altogether.
In its place, with Saturday and Sunday comprising the official Formula One weekend, might be a full day of testing, accompanying 'fan-friendly' activities and a reduction in private testing.
"Friday is pointless," Jacques Villeneuve said earlier this year. "It's not really a fair thing for the fans or the teams. The fans come (but) they don't care about third drivers."
The cost implications are also significant, with Honda boss Nick Fry estimating that making Friday a test day could halve a team's private testing budget.
I never take any notice of the times posted by drivers on a practice day after all they are exactly that – practice, a chance for the teams to try different strategies and the drivers to report on any changes made to the car.
If Friday practice is cancelled, does this mean an F1 weekend ticket will be cheaper?
