Kimi to make announcement
« on: July 19, 2006, 01:57:04 PM »

The identity of Kimi Raikkonen's next F1 employer will be unveiled in August, according to media reports.

On Tuesday, AS newspaper in Spain cited the information of the Finn's manager, Steve Robertson, who supposedly told journalists at Magny Cours that they could expect to hear an announcement about 2007 next month.

It had been rumoured in the French countryside that Renault, seemingly the favourite to land 26-year-old Raikkonen on the promise of $18.5m, would complete its driver line up ahead of the grand prix, but the announcement did not come.

The 'paper speculates that Kimi's alleged 'pre-agreement' with Ferrari, set to run out at the end of this month, prohibits any announcement until August.

The first Grand Prix in August is Hungary. In the same report, Renault boss Flavio Briatore was quoted as promising to 'say something about my future' at Hockenheim in about ten days' time.
