Alonso worried over lack of points

Wonder if the Renault bigwigs have figured
out last years poor showing weren't Heikki's
or Giancarlo's fault :tease:

Well it does seem some serious head scratching is needed at Renault according to Fred he may be jumping ship anyway,

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/68373

but Renault claim they can turn it around.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/68383

Sounds to me like Fred needs the performance clause to kick in if, as rumoured, he has signed for Honda next year.

Imagine the points Ferd would have if he'd just put his head down and stayed at Mclaren?  Silly boy.

This is starting to sound like a commitment test. It's like if Renault put the effort into 2008 then Alonso will stay and if it doesn't he will leave. A strange thing to ask, but he's asked for stranger stuff from his teams before...

Not so strange if you view Fernando is placing a performance test on Renault in much the same way as most employment contracts world-wide now do.

Meet the standards means you stay, fall short of them and its bye bye blackbird.

I bet they have a 'standard of performance' clause on him.

FA has just turned the arrangement back on RENAULT and good on him as they have been dismal for this and last year.

Except for McLAREN, fernando would waltz into most other teams so they better improve.

I don't know about 'most' worldwide contracts having performance tests.  Maybe for top executives, but the rest of us not.  Performance incentives or tests, have been the norm for teams and drivers both ways for years.  Alonzo even said he would have a 'get-out clause' with his new Renault contract last year.  So now he's swinging it around.  Well, he'd better make darned sure he has a seat to jump into before he uses the thing.  I don't think he knows how to waltz (maybe the Tango), and I think his off-track tactics and excessive negative press comments have dropped him a bit down the want-list of more than a couple of team principals.  Funny thing is that on one side he is saying that he wants Renault to change their focus to the '09 car, yet at the same time he is saying he will decide at the end of the year how they've done before he makes a decision about '09...so he wants them to get even worse this year so he can leave????   The guy doesn't make sense.

Ferd should have gone to Jordan in 05. Then he could have had a new team every year (Jordan, Midland, Spyker, Force India) without the bother of having to move his kit to another garage!

Yeah... but Raindancer.... nobody likes or respects an arrogant child of a man... if things are't going perfect for him... it's everyone elses fault, and if he happens to do well... it's simply down to his 'god-like' driving..... the final nail in Alonsos' respect coffin for me was when he claimed he alone is worth 6/10ths of a second.... Kimi, Hamilton and Kubica are all faster drivers and none of them make such an arrogant and ridiculous claim.

That's where my hatred for him comes from..... 2 WDC is not enough to earn my respect.

That just tells me his team delivered him the fastest and most reliable car for 2 years... and he got lucky... there are better drivers than him out there and any one of them could have done it in the equipment, as long as they weren't hampered by team orders like Fisi was.  And before anyone tells me that's not the case.... I believe it is... coz now Fisi is away from Renault, he drives like a bat out of hell in the car he has....

I'm with you there Rom, I've always said if FA stars from the front he's ok, if he has to fight from back a bit he loses it

I wonder how he is going to react to being beaten by his team mate today.  The same team mate who according to most of what I have read is next to useless.  And Alonso made a rookie mistake to let him through.

I am no fan of FA but in my opinion he has brought the 6/10th to Renault this year.
