Aussie Driver Wows NASCAR
« on: June 24, 2008, 02:45:16 PM »
Aussie driver Marcos Ambrose put in an impressive run in his NASCAR Sprint Cup debut last week-end. Driving the Little Debbie's Honey Buns Ford for the struggling Wood Brothers team, he ran as high as second before being taken out in a shunt. The race was on the Infinion Raceway (formerly Sears Point) at Sonoma, California.

The once powerhouse Wood Bros. team is one of the few family run teams left in NASCAR's premier series.

The Wood Bros. have been my favorite Cup team since Bud Moore Engineering left the series.

I always wondered what happened to him.  He did FFrord in Britain then disappeared I think into Aussie touring cars.

His father Ross Ambrose was Ralph Firman senior's partner when he set up Van Diemen.  Van Diemen's land is Tasmania and it was Ambrose who came up with the name.
