The IndyCar Series 2009 schedule is shaping up. Series president Terry Angstadt said Watkins Glen International will retain its July 4 slot for the third consecutive year. The race will fall on July 5
As for this year, the Indy Racing League has still not confirmed that it will add the Surfers Paradise, Australia, race to the list because a contract has not been signed. Angstadt said that coming to terms has taken too long.
"We're late," he said. "But I think we're there [with an agreement]. We haven't signed [a contract], but we feel very good that the major business issues have been agreed to."
The event is scheduled for Oct. 24-26, and it will not be a points-paying race this season because Chicagoland Speedway is guaranteed to host the season finale Sept. 7.
