Jenson Button completed another triathlon over the weekend, the Honda Racing F1 driver finishing the City of Bath Sprint Triathlon in an impressive 15th position, one better than his result at the 7Oaks Triathlon back in April of this year, and 12th in his class.
The event, which comprised of a 750 metre swim, a 25 kilometre cycle ride and a 5 kilometre run, was won in a time of 1 hour, 18 minutes and 32 seconds by Jason Hill. Jenson, a relative newcomer to the sport of triathlons, was just eight minutes behind, finishing in 1h 26:43.
As in Kent, Button's physio, Mike Collier, entered alongside, completing the gruelling event in 1h 32:38, finishing in a credible 34th position. A total of 157 people crossed the finish line.
Jenson famously challenged Lewis Hamilton to enter the Bath event during the British Grand Prix press conference, something the youngster reluctantly agreed to. However, shortly after the conference, Hamilton's father removed Lewis from the challenge, no doubt conscious of the headlines that may appear should the world championship leader have lost to Button.
It remains to be seen if Hamilton has donated the £10,000 to charity that was part of the challenge.
Jenson has one more event planned for this year, that we're aware of, running the 7Oaks triathlon once more in September.
