Alonso reprimanded and fined

Renault driver Fernando Alonso was hit with a hefty 10,000 euros fine by stewards following Friday’s European Grand Prix practice.

The former world champion was reprimanded and landed with the penalty after he cut across the solid white line that acts as the pitlane entry, while making his way back to the pits during the afternoon practice session.

Alonso’s action was deemed a breach of Article 4 of the FIA Sporting Code and he was not the only one who suffered after a pitlane misdemeanour as Red Bull's David Coulthard was ordered to pat The FIA 2200 euros for exceeding the pitlane speed limit.

Good to see the stewards are impartial although that does seem a bit harsh. still it probably relates to a small fixed penalty for the rest of us plebs trangressing the speed limits. If you earn millions the fines have to be a size to prevent re-occurance.
