Max Wants Standard Engines
« on: September 19, 2008, 04:38:09 PM »
Mad Max is at it again. He now wants F1 to move even further toward being a NASCAR-style spec racer series. He says he wants a standard engine for all of F1:

Since then, he has defended this insanity, saying:

Quote
"F1 should not lose its status for technological excellence, but it has to be investing in useful technologies. I know there are those who say it is not the right move, but I am talking about the real world."

“You can search the world over for the finer things, but you won't find a match for the American road and the creatures that live on it.”

If he wants to drive the car manufacturers out of F1 this is a sure fire way to do it.

Everyone knows that the car makers have specialist outfits making the chassis even if they totally owned by the marque, its the engines that have always been considered the true essence of the car brand.

Absolutely - the manufacturer can hardly market the chassis as any comparison to a road car, but the engine is a different story...just look at the old Jacques Villeneuve ads...."but inside every Honda is a Honda motor!"
