Alonso to join Ferrari in 2010 despite Kimi's new contract

One of the sites I read said that Kimi's extension was his option and Ferrari had no control over it.  He had delivered what was necessary to trigger the option clause and so he only had to write to them to activate the clause.  One of the implications of that was that if Ferrari wanted to drop him at the end of this season they would now have to pay him for two years and not one.
