Who's Gone, Who Stays?
« on: October 31, 2008, 02:48:06 PM »
We know for sure that this will be David Coulthard's last race. It might be the last hurrah for several others Anybody care to guess who get sent packing after Sunday?

My picks are that SeaBass wil be back next season, Piquet is most likely done for, and Barrichello might as well not bother to leave Brazil after the race.

I agree with you Cos.  Personally I think if they are going to ditch a driver at Honda, they should also consider Jenson instead of, or as well.

I think Seabass and Piquet will struggle to keep their seats for next season. Honda need to make a change otherwise they'll just stroll through another season without making any impact. I think Jenson needs to move to another team cos his carrer is going down the pan with Honda. Do you think he regrets paying out all that money to stay with Honda? I know i would.

In retrospect Williams would have been a much better choice.  Honda may yet get a chance to compete against them, but really - what a career wasted by greed and politics.

According to BBC 5 live during FP2 the inside info is that Piquet is on his way out of Renault.  Piquet senior was there today and standing next to Piquet's car when it was in the pits was Lucas Di Grassi who would be South American enough for Carlos Slim Helu.

The Driver line up at Honda is dependant on Nando, if he signs Rubens is history if not Ross has said they may keep him and I believe look for another big target for 2010 with Jens providing the continuity throughout.

The only way piquet can stay is also if Nando signs to Honda. Sutil may move if FIF1 gets Mc Laren's drivetrain and I can see him being lent out to Torro Rosso, he has experience of Ferrari engines and they may need it, and Paul di Resta coming into FIF1. Seabass may get ride at Renault if Nando moves otherwise I can't see him staying.

The Toyota team may just replce Trulli, Glock has been so much better than expected they just might feel ready to bring in more young blood, but who beats me.

Renault look certain to have at least one new boy and I would guess Lucas di Grassi as well. Senna though is only likely to get a testing role in 2009

The top 3 teams all look fixed up even Kovi, because of his low profile, will stay for one more at Macca.

I think Piquet is gone and Bourdais as well, remember John
Flav has already said he's too old for F1.Ruebens is
more than likely gone too

I believe if Lewis wins the WC both this year and
next Heikki will be gone too,I just don't think  it's
all Lewis making Heikki look bad,he's a good driver but
not a world champion  IMO

I think Heikki might stay longer if he helps Mc Laren lift the constructors title in 09.

I think Ron will be happy to have a clear number 2 to Lewis for a few years, it will be more whether Heikki gets fed up being in his teamates shadow and seeks a shot at hounors elswhere.

Mc Laren work best in a stable and non controversial way so having a fixed driver line up seems to suit them.

Jensen may switch to Williams, who are in need of a driver for their transport truck.

I thought Ralf was after that job for his return to F1,we'll
I guess we could have a shootout for the seat, but wait
Ralf lost his last one at F1 to Fisi

...and Liuzzi, and I suspect Klien, Montagny and even that Rodruigez bloke were ahead of him in the queue for that particular seat.

No, Ralf won't be back in F1 any time soon. But Jenson's got a contract for 2009 to race at Honda, so I suppose that's one competitor for the post out of the running...

You know what Andy?At the first of the season I
dispised Piquet but by the end  I too was starting
to like him

I think Heikki is safe at McLaren until diResta is ready for F1.  McLaren and Merc have no need to rush him so they can do exactly the same with him as they did with Lewis and place him with a top GP2 team and find out how he operates at that level first.

Heikki in my opinion is a really good driver and when he moves to another team against a known quantity Lewis reputation is going to go through the roof.

I think Piquet is toast and Lucas di Grassi will have that seat next season.
