Who do You want to Win the WDC........and Why?
« on: November 01, 2008, 12:45:52 AM »
[Just thought I would throw my 2 cents worth into the ring as I am quite ambivalent about whoever does win it.]

On the one hand, while a great admirer of felipe MASSA especially for his strongly disciplined efforts to control his inner Latin fire, I deplore his FERRARI team's despicable and underhand culture and management style.

On the other, lewis HAMILTON and McLAREN have been unfairly dealt with by the FIA and, while racing this year, have been under the "cloud" of possible penalties still being given to them for "copying" any of the FERRARI 2007 technologies into their 2008 cars.

To actually win it while operating under those conditions would be doubly sweet as it would send an umistakeable "up yours!" to max MOSLEY, the FIA itself and of course to FERRARI whose wins in 2007 I will always consider to be fraudulent and "B" grade.

However, if I was fernando ALONSO I would not resist the opportunity and temptation to line LH's McLAREN up during the BRAZIL GP and ruthlessly T-Bone him, - a la SENNA and SCHUMACHER - thereby stuffing up his 2008 WDC ambitions!

I'd do such a good job of it too that both of our cars would be unable to continue and after taking off my helmet etc would walk past LH, hugely grin and laughingly say "F***K you ya p***k" while extending my forefinger in the classic and traditional manner.

What a sweet moment for sweet FA. Even if he were to be charged with a "disrepute" charge it would be well worth it!

Mind you it may be better to claim it was just another racing incident.

And I'd make sure I was the WDC in 2009 to really stick it to them!

Mmmmm!
Not the reasons I was expecting your obviously an Alonso fan? Dont you think he showed himself up by throwing teddy out the pram while at McLaren I had expected him to behave in a mature way which he didn't and still fails to do. I really expected him to show the new kid the way it should be done but he let me and himself down.

Anyway.

I agree with your sentiments on Ferrari they do seem to gain more assistance than anyone else although I too like Massa and would not have a problem if he were champion.

But.

Lewis is a Brit I also think he is articulate and conducts himself in a mature way for his years, he has made mistakes but its only his second season in F1. In the UK we seem to have a problem with winners and fail to support them, more so the media than the general public although they like to back the under dog, so for me its Lewis. I can see a lot of simularities with Micheal Schumacher and if McLaren give him the tools to do the job we could see some records broken in the future.

It has to be Lewis, because at this moment he is the best driver out there. Earlier in the Season I thought Massa was the most improved driver this year, and still do, but the WDC should be about the best driver taking it not the best car.

The constuctors title is where the best car should be rewarded and that indicates at the moment that the Red devils are on top, when you consider the teams efforts to stop themselves winning races they should have romped away with it.

Nice picture it wll make if Nando does T bone Lewis, but for all his bluster Nando is always in control and will see no gain in doing it.

Let's look at this logically.

Lewis has 5 wins, and so has Felipe.
Lewis has 7 poles to Felipe's 5.
Lewis has 7 more championship points than Felipe.

So at this stage, all things being equal Lewis looks like the more likely candidate on performance.

BUT

Ferrari say their car is by far the best car in F1.
Massa says the Ferrari is far superior to the Mc Laren.
The FIA have been doing everything in their power and lots more to screw Mc Laren.
Ferrari play to their own rules and the FIA sits there and nods approvingly.

SO

With such a lousy car,
Ferrari and Alonso doing everything to trip him up,
The FIA inventing ways of screwing him every race,

AND YET

 Hamilton is still ahead.

I really don't see any need for further discussion as to who is the more deserved champion.

I dont think anyone will be surprised when i say Lewis Hamilton. After being so close in his rookie season he deserves it this year. The FIA have done everything they can to ruin his season but hes still on the verge of becoming WDC. Plus i despise everything Ferrari so to see the smug smiles wiped off their faces will be great

Of the two who still have a chance this year, I'd have to go with Lewis. The FIA robbed him of it last year. Besides, he's replace Ferd as the youngest ever WDC.

For next year, I'd like to see Kubica at a still-improving BMW Sauber get it.

Of the 2 left this year I have to agree with Kimi,I don't
really care who wins it.

Next year I'd like to see a new champion.Trulli,Glock,
Rosberg,or even Kubica wouln/t make me mad

I would love to have seen Felipe as WDC, but after all the dirt and stuff that Lewis has put up with tis season I hope Lewis wins it.

And for the Brazilian's booing today whenever Lewis's picture came up, don't recall that in reverse at Silverstone.

The race fans in Britain are much more sophisticated and appreciate the whole experiece, but the championship was not, and never is, on the line in the same way. This weekend in Brazil is nearly as important as the Soccer World Cup to them.

It doesn't matter much who wins the title now, it is pretty badly tarnished.
They should just throw it open to everyone and award it to whoever throws the most money (plus a few whips and chains) toward Max and Bernie.

But I guess the question was who I would want to win the WDC, so my vote would have to go to Filipe Massa, just because he has worked so hard at developing his abilities for quite a few years... so he has seniority over Lewis (but Lewis may have more natural skill).

Conversely, I should really be supporting Mecedes-McLaren because I have a couple of aging Mercedes and they need all the help they can get. It is doubtful if I will ever get to own a Ferrari.

I'd like Lewis to win it out of the two that can. If it weren't for the FIA's interference, he'd already be champion despite their interference in 2007 and for several avoidable errors. The trouble is that I don't feel that any of the four drivers with the car to be champion really deserved it because they all made too many mistakes. Kubica was the driver who drove like a champion and he was only denied because the BMw is still a bit slower than McLaren or Ferrari (though still quicker than BMW implied in their pre-season planning).
