Interlagos Internet
« on: November 04, 2008, 01:25:27 PM »
This from The Red Bulletin:

A joke at Interlagos was that F1 photographers are paying for Bruno Senna's F1 test.

Senna's sponsor, the Brazilian telcom Embratel, charged photographers $600 US for 4 days of dedicated, high speed Internet service. This so that the photographers can publicise the event and F1 in general!

Embratel had been charging $265 US for a slow speed connection until F1 stepped in and cut that price by half.

That's a fortune! Do these people (or more likely, the circuit owners) have any idea what an important service the press provide?

They do but they don't care, they see a chance to make some money off F1 and are taking it. They have worked out that enough news organisations or magazines will pay up to make it worthwhile. I must take my hat off to them, they have obviously watched Bernie and Max doing business.
