Ancient Sunken City

Lost for 1600 years the fabled city of Alexandria was lost - until just 16 years ago. The famed stage of historic interactions between Cleopatra, Julius Caesar, Marc Antony and Octavius was lost under the water. The ancient Alexandria had over 500,000 residents and was known for its library with over 700,000 scrolls.

The sunken city is still being investigated by archaeologists, so far one pharaonic statue and 25 sphinxes have been found, together with several statues of god and one of Cleopatra.

The sunken city is the victim of several natural catastrophes, like earthquakes and tidal waves. It was lost to the ocean some time in the 4th century CE. - Amazing!
