US Footie Championship
« on: November 25, 2008, 02:49:43 PM »
The Columbus Crew defeated the Los Angeles Red Bulls 3-1 to win the Major League Soccer (MLS) Cup.

I bring his up to show how important footie is here in the States. Columbus is the closest city to my hometown of Lancaster. Crew Stadium, the first purpose built soccer stadium in the US, is about an hour away. The last time any major league sports team from Ohio won a championship would be the Cincinnati Reds baseball teams of the 1970's.

The news of the Crew championship made the third, and last, page of the sports section of the local paper. It was just after reports about deer hunting season!

Not good is it greener, I had a season ticket for a good few years down at the Valley. Couldn't stomach it in the end.

I see Bristol City are mid table with 26 points, not too bad, good luck with the rest of the season.
