Honda Out of F1 in March 2009
« on: December 04, 2008, 10:46:01 PM »
Honda have yet to announce this but I read this article on Pitpass just now.

   http://www.pitpass.com/fes_php/pitpass_news_item.php?fes_art_id=36685

It appears the Brackey boys are all looking for work.

A nice Christmas present from Japan.

This news is everywhere but Formula1.com. Seems Bernie does not want to hear about it, so the official F1 site just ignores it.

I hope this news is wrong for John's sake. But
it it's true it poses many questions, mainly
what are Button's options

Wonder if this is what Berger meant when
he said he had other options open to him?

Its Official! Honda have withdrawn from Formula One racing with immediate effect.

Honda is trying to conserve cash and realign its engineering and development resources in a deteriorating global outlook for car sales. The President of Honda stated that due to 'business difficulties' he has made the decision to exit the global racing at the end of the 2008 series. Honda spends about $541.7 million per year to maintain the racing team.

Sad news indeed and lets hope this is not the start of a trend.

I just now (5 Dec, 12:25 GMT) check the official Honda team site - not a word about it. The leading item under "News" is a contest to win a pair of Jenson's race boots. (Guess he won't need them now)

Most of the articles emphasize that they are trying to sell the team. Wouldn't it be ironic if David Richards or, even better, Aguri Suzuki ended up with it.

Rubens should court David Richards.  If he stepped in, then Rubens would likely have a seat next year since Richards would punt Jensen and Fry for sure.  I wonder what Brawn would think of working under the cigar chomping ProDrive boss.

I wonder if the sale negotiations would be up to Fry or not?  That could take Richards out of the picture.

I am sure if Richards contacted Honda in Japan and said he wanted to take over the team but didn't want to deal with Fry they would be only to talk to him.
