F1 Mosley wants the public to have a say
« on: December 14, 2008, 06:59:51 PM »

The FiA announced on Friday that it would begin a market research campaign about whether fans support changes being made to the format of grand prix weekends - including Bernie Ecclestone’s radical idea for an Olympics-style medal system replacing the current points setup.

“We’ll make a market survey and decide based on the results,” Mosley told Gazzetta dello Sport. “Extending the points-paying positions to the top eight by reducing the difference between first and second was a mistake, but I’m against changing the points system too often. It disorientates people.”

Mosley admits that he was against the teams’ decision to ban refuelling from 2010, but thinks there will still be plenty of excitement without them.

“I was against banning them because in my opinion they were part of the show,” he said. “However tyre changes will stay, so it will be exciting to see who will be the quickest at it.

“Also, I trust technology to avoid, like what happened in the eighties, of drivers avoiding fighting in the first part of the race to save their brakes and tyres.”

Max is right! Who'd have thunk it?

As far as market research, how about this - Put the races where the fans are!

we face a novel episode between mR E and max.....and that just with one aiming...power, glory.....Max seem on the good side this time, but more is to come
Ok for changing tyres for refuelling, but the strategy in the pits will just change a bit
hard tyres when the car is filled, expecting to take one or two positions by changing fast and then drive on soft for the rest of the race...I expect two changes...first set uo hard, then hard then soft...the first laps are going to be a fight then the queue will form until the changes....I hope it will rain at every GP

This is just Max's usual bull to say he is going to do what he wants.  I remember his last market survey.  The FIA/AMD thing.  Like many thousands of others I spent 15 minutes filling it in.  A couple of days after it closed and a few weeks before the results were collated and published Max announced his vision of the future.  KERS etc.  When the results were published there was so much spin on them that the FIA's interpretation of what the results said bore no relation to what the results actually said.

I also filled in the last FIA survey. It was brilliant, pure FIA, pure Max. It simply did not ask any questions that we all wanted to answer. It was so well crafted that there was no way any opinion could be offered that did not agree with what Max/FIA had already decided.
Max has never listened to the fans. He only listens to the teams when he has no choice. He is completely dictatorial (I wonder where he gets that from?)

Having give it some thought I have designed a new FIA questionnaire.  Max wants the public to have a say and I think given the spin put on previous surveys this one has to be simple with black and white answers.

FIA Fan Survey

Do you think it is in the best interests of the sport for Max and Bernie to

1. Stay and run the sport

2. Resign and never be seen in public again

I think the fans would give a clear indication of their opinions.

Now that is the sort of Survey ING should have done.

Now I wonder what I would have voted ?  ;) ;) ;)

Max's survey will simply say:

Q1.  Do you think Max is the greatest.

Q2.  Do you think Max is the greatest.

Q3.  Do you think Max is thre best thing that has happened to F1.

Q4.  Do you think Max is the best thing since sliced bread.

Yes voters will be given free tickets to the GP of their choice.

Sorry, Willy, but it looks like F1 will always be governed by The Golden Rule: "The Ones with the Gold Make the Rules!"
