Todt gone in March
« on: February 06, 2009, 09:55:10 AM »
I wonder if he would join Ross at Honda and buy out the team...if he did, I bet Honda would be wondering if they made the right decision when they could have simply hired him.  I hope it's not to free him up for a run at the FIA president position.  I think Todt would be worse than Mosley in many ways.

From F1 Live:

Jean Todt is set to shortly depart as a member of the FIA's World Motor Sport Council, Max Mosley confirmed at a media briefing and lunch in London on Wednesday.

Todt stepped down as Ferrari team boss at the end of the 2007 season, subsequently also handing over the role as the marque's CEO.

However, he stayed as a director of the board, and remains contracted to the Italian marque for several ‘special appointments’.

But it emerges that Todt's current tenure is set to end in March, meaning that Ferrari will have to nominate a replacement for the 62-year-old Frenchman to represent the Italian team on the 26-member Council.

It doesn't fell like he will just retire, he is 62 after all, so I suppose we have to await developments.

For him to run Honda will take a big backer as he is to cute to risk all his own money.

The bit I don't like is "Ferrari will have to nominate a replacement".

Surely this would have been a good time to remove the one F1 team to have direct representation on the board and replace it with a different seat. I'd prefer it to be a randomly-selected spectator, but at the very least the FIA could have given itself another vote...

There is no bias towards Ferrari.  Max said so.

Now this sounds interesting. Todt retires from his present post in March, and the FIA election for President is in June.

Are you seeing it like I am ?  Just enough time for a good holiday before taking up his new post.
