Larry Miller Dies
« on: February 26, 2009, 01:23:26 PM »
The man who built a racing facility with F1 in mind has passed.

Larry H. Miller, whose businesses include Miller Motorsports Park, died on Feb. 20 due to complications from diabetes. He was 64.

MMP is located in Toole, Utah, near Salt Lake City. The $100 million complex opened in 2005. It has a 23-turn, 4.5-mile main track designed by Alan Wilson. As built, the facility includes an F1 spec garage and paddock complex.

The track has hosted races from the American Le Mans Series, Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series, AMA Superbike Championship and the FIM Superbike World Championship. It is also home to the Ford High Performance Driving School.

Sad to see Larry has gone, but is there any chance his legacy race track could be the place for a revival of the USGP?

I hope not. Utah isn't the end of the world, but you can see it from there. Except at alt Lake City Airport, the only place to get anything stronger than 3.2% beer is in a private club.
