It's understandable that NASCAR and NHRA dominate. Currently, NASCAR runs 36 points and 4 non-points Cup races per season. In the past, they ran many, many more. (1964 had 62 races, 1963 & 1966, 55 each!) NHRA currently runs a 24 race season. Also, it's common for drivers to continue racing well into their 40's and even 50's in both series.
