Speed camera? Change lanes!
« on: October 20, 2006, 08:07:31 AM »

New government speed cameras are unable to capture speeding vehicles if they change lanes thanks to a loopy loophole.

With a cash crisis at the Home Office, the new Specs cameras equipped with Automatic Number Plate Reading (ANPR) technology have only been tested for use on single lanes.

This means that unless police forces fork out to ensure that two or three-lane carriageways have a camera in each lane, motorists could escape £60 fines and penalty points simply by switching lanes.

Specs cameras measure the average speed of cars between two points by recording number plates and the time taken to reach the next camera.

Already around 27 have been installed and many more could be popping up on roads across the country.

Please update us if anyone puts this theory to the test.

Only thing is it's difficult to see exactly which lane they're pointing at because they are usually on one pole on one side of the road. If someone finds out a pattern let us know ;)

I agree, and we are about to unleash more undertaking and dodging in and out by fast drivers who want to avoid detection at all cost.
Accidents here we come !!!!
