What anthem would they play if Toyota wins?

We may never, ever find out!  ;)

Not sure if there are any specific rules on this. I actually always thought it was based on where the teams HQ is located. Most of them are in the UK. I think they did play the UK anthem when Renault were winning.

Along these lines, most drivers live in Monaco or Switzerland now, and yet retain the anthems of their 'home' countries.

I'm guessing that somewhere is a list of which anthems are to be played.  But it seems no one knows who is in charge of the list.  Chalk another one up to FIA I guess.

This is the anthem for Toyota.

An aircraft landing is just a controlled crash.

Toy wont notice, or care, what is played if they ever get their first win. Karaoke is big in Japan so they may well have their own favourite drinking song already.

Red Bull is Austrian.  They were at the ICA with the Austrian association so the Austrian anthem should have been played.  This was definitely a breach of podium etiquette but since the Chinese have just signed a 7 year extension with Bernie I am sure that is the last we will hear of it.

Nationality in motor racing depends on which national association a team is affiliated to or which association a driver has a racing license with.  Jochen Rindt is listed as the first Austrian world champion because he raced with and Austrian license but by normal standards he was German.

I seem to remember the Turks got fined about half million dollars for breaching podium etiquette, surely the FIA can't just ignore it!  :o  ;)

I suppose that since it was an error on the part of Allsport Management, which is responsible for that side of the podium ceremony, and that company is part of the CVC conglomerate, that the FIA has to be a bit careful about how it moans. Its power over that organisation is somewhat limited.

Teams' anthems are determined as Steven said. Drivers are supposed to use the national sporting authority connected to the country of which they are a citizen, which can get interesting when the driver is of dual nationality. For example, Ralph Firman had a British racing licence in F1 because his father is British (and sponsorship may have been involved) but raced in A1GP with an Irish licence because his mother is Irish (and so was his team). Teams have a freer choice, though if, for example, McLaren tried to get registered with the Ugandan national sporting authority, there would be a problem...

I'm fairly sure they played the French anthem
when Renault won.
It would be more than their life's worth if they didn't. :good:
