Davidson looking for Points
« on: November 22, 2006, 09:48:59 PM »
New Super Aguri signing Anthony Davidson believes points finishes are a realistic aim as he gears up for his first full season in Formula One.

Davidson, 27, joined the team last week and is excited about 2007, even if he does think that he will take a while to get used to his new set-up.

“My first objective is to finish my first race with the team in Melbourne and then go from there – build up the learning blocks,” said Davidson. “Even though I know the format I am still going to be learning.

“By the end of the year I hope to be pushing Taku really hard and hopefully we will be in a competitive environment with our car. The ultimate goal has to be scoring points in your first year and I believe that this is now a realistic goal.”

Davidson's race deal will re-unite him with Japanese driver Takuma Sato. The pair were team-mates in British Formula Three in 2001 with Carlin, and also worked together at BAR from 2003 until last year.

He added: “It feels a bit strange. I obviously competed with him in Formula Three and then worked with him at the BAR team [now Honda] as it was then.

“It will be a fun year, we get on really well and we know each others strengths and weaknesses and hopefully, like in any good team, we will push everybody on to bigger and better things.”

Ironically, Davidson's most recent of his three Grand Prix starts came in Malaysia in 2005 as a substitute for Sato, who was too unwell to race.
