Monteiro to race with the stars in Brazil
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa and organizers of the “Desafio Internacional das Estrelas” have extended an invitation to Spyker F1 driver, Tiago Monteiro to join them this coming weekend to take part in a challenge that will see him racing against forty champions from various championships worldwide.
Naturally the Portuguese racer, who took part in a similar race last month, is more than willing to join them in all the action at the Kartódromo dos Ingleses, in Florianópolis (Santa Catarina), Brazil.
“After my experience last month in Portugal driving the safety car in the Portuguese Casinos do Algarve Rallye, I could not resist another similar challenge during the off season, and have accepted Felipe Massa’s invitation to join the international and Brazil stars who are going to compete in the second edition of the “Desafio Internacional das Estrelas,” Tiago said. “I love racing whether it’s in an F1 car or not and I’m really looking forward to fighting it out on track with a field of 40 champions from all different kinds of racing disciplines whether Formula Indy, GP2 Series, Formula Nippon, Stock Car or GT.”
Apart from Felipe, Tiago will also be racing with other fellow F1 drivers, such as Rubens Barrichello and Vitantonio Liuzzi, together with other great racers including Jean Alesi, Ricardo Zonta, Antonio Pizzonia, Enrique Bernoldi, Robert Doornbos, Ricardo Maurizio, Nelsinho Piquet and Augusto Farfus Jr.
“I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel of a racing car,” Tiago added enthusiastically. “It’s going to be a really exciting weekend ahead, driving to the limit and I’m determined to finish as high as possible in the classification.”
