Villeneuve visits Lotus' Norfolk HQ
« on: November 28, 2009, 12:02:28 AM »

Now just why would Jacques be visiting Lotus?

Was he just visiting Danny Bahar, an old aquaintance formerly at Ferrari, the new cheif at lotus or is he still pursuing a drive for next year?

JV is supposedly in training  to resume his
F1 career.Who would want him?

Well Tony Fernandez has said that Lotus have 4 drivers going for their two seats, so it is not unlikely JV is one of them.  I guess it depends, if Lotus want two experienced drivers, I guess going with JV and Trulli is not a bad option.  I liked JV and am thankful for the title he won with us.  Wouldn't mind seeing him again on the grid.  I think it could end in disaster though for his reputation.

JV is talking to Lotus. Schumi is talking to Mercedes. I read that DC is looking around.

Maybe F1 could be like golf and start a "Seniors Tour."

A new team would be wise to use experienced drivers, who are willing to help the team out.  Anyone looking to win should apply elsewhere.  Villeneuve has already done the new team thing.  He can just tell Lotus to do the opposite of BAR at every turn, and he'll earn his paycheque.

This comment comes from Jon Noble of Autosport on twitter. Looks like Jacques might not be on Gascoyne's list of 4.

"Anyway, quick update - Jacques Villeneuve's visit to Norfolk yesterday was to Lotus Cars only. Doesn't look like an F1 deal there is close"

The first thing that JV can tell Lotus is if they see Craig Pollock coming down the road, lock the doors and turn out the lights.

I hope JV has divested himself of that dead weight.

Nothing against Craig Pollock, but wasn't he a ski instructor before becoming Villeneuve's manager?

(Of course, in Ontario we elected a golf pro to be Premier twice... success comes from whereever it comes.)

Yes, he was. He was as good at that as he was at being an F1 manager. Here are some of his students.  ;)
