Preventing Roadkill
« on: December 04, 2009, 04:07:47 PM »
This solar powered animal warning system charges all day long.  It gives off a subtle blinking LED light that flips on when it detects an animal nearby.

It alerts the motorist so that they can slow down.  It also reflects the oncoming car’s headlights.  It makes it so the light bounces sideways in order to warn the animals and hopefully get them to run the other direction.  Right now these Zerokill reflectors are just a concept.

There is an animal alert system on the Indiana Toll Road (Interstate 80 & 90). It uses radar to detect animals entering the highway. There are signs with solar powered amber warning lights every half mile in rural areas. The light flashes when an animal is detected. This is the best pix I could find. The sign is on the right berm.

it also makes the animals easier to see so you can
run them down >:D
