Newey opts for Silverstone over China

Can't blame him given the travel and smog, but wonder if Marko is pleased at his choice?  To be fair, I wonder how much help Newey really is on the pit wall after all - his forte is certainly back at the factory.

Tough to say what his input is at the wall.

I'd guess that if they've got a new aero package to sort out, having him on site to take advantage of his intuition for tweaking changes is invaluable

Experience matter Scott, yes he may be a genius on the drawing board, but also he may be a genius in the pits as well, we only see his efforts on the race track, but we never know whether it was in the drawing board or in the pit wall from which he managed to make himself a legend. Also his presence may help RBR diffuse the potential tension between their new driver line up, so I think it was painful for RBR not to have him in track.

I think with the updates on their way for the European season, his genius was more helpful at the factory this month.
