I quite like that style PG, it's completely different to anything else racing isn't it !!! I'd definitely be interested in watching that thing zoom around. :good:

I am not against the design as a concept or even as a car but classic Indy/Champ/Cart open wheel racing it ain't. :P

By all means start a new series for cars like this, you can call it Rialto racing series in deference to the old 3 wheeled fibreglass bodied Reliant, I'd even look foward to watching high class 'Del Boy' van races.  :D

Oh by the way how does the Delta Wing manage at hairpins or, come to think of it, any normal road course corners?

You know what John, that's a good enough argument. Perhaps they should have started up a new series :good:

It would look more at home on
the Salt Flats going for a land
speed record

I'm sure the guys who designed this know more about race car  design than I do, but from an elementary physics point those rear fins generate down force and side force. As long as both wings are in clean air and generating equal amounts, the side forces cancel out. But if the airflow is disturbed as frequently happens in a race, the forces could become unequal, causing the vehicle to weave. Assuming that I remember what I learned about force vectors way back in college correctly. And how will the rear down force be balanced at the front, and what keeps it from tricycling?

My first thought was that it looks like one of Craig Breedlove's old Spirit of America Bonneville record cars. As noted previously, there's no room for those front wheels to steer. They must not have gotten the word about the turbos until the last minute, either. They stuck that airbox up above the seat, then didn't put a scoop on it.  :DntKnw:

Bring on the Delta Wing I say. I reckon it's about time f1 took on a new radical concept such as this... :DD

in looking at these odd cars, we have to look back and wonder what it was like to see a REAR engined car, or the first cars with aero and ground effects for the first time.

The 'modern' open wheel car design with rear engine and aerodynamic designs has only been used for 40 out of 100 years.

(Although is that Delta an 'open wheel'!?)
