Lola & Drayson Build All-Electric LMP1 Car

Lola and Drayson Racing Technologies are going to build an all-electric LMP1 car. The car will have 850 hp and be rear wheel drive. It will have a wireless recharging system that involves parking the car over an induction coil.

Lord Drayson has long been involved in greener technologies. His team has been invovled with the EVCUP electric racing series this season.

Cosworth    , BAE Systems, Halo IPT and others will be involved.

I genuinely believe that electric is the future of top flight motor racing, even though I know it will cost fans.

However, I'm not sure about the wireless charging.  Maybe I'm being a bit of a luddite here, but wouldn't putting a huge electromagnetic field near people on a regular basis be a bad idea?

Jury's still out on that one. There is preliminary evidence that EMF energy is bad for  humans, but no solid proof yet. I want to know how they intend to run 6 or 12 or 24 hours without changing batteries. An induction coil won't charge fast enough to stay in a race.
