The top 8 finishing drivers (2 points for a right driver in the right position
1 point for a driver on the wrong position

- Rain: yes/no (1 point)
decided by members as F1 mucked it a few times last year

- Safety Car: yes/no (1 point)
Will be counted when the safety car is deployed during race

-Pole position 1 point
drivers that starts the race from pole

-dnf-numbers of cars not finishing race, declared in the race chat

-Fastest race lap-1 point

-double up-used once per season.Double your points for race
  must be declared before qualifying

-late bets-Read  4 points penality.Don't cry if your late and penalized
-betting deadlines

  Qualifying-1 hour before qualifying
Race betting-deadline is 1 am, Sunday London UK time

If there is no outright winner the player with the greatest number of
correct pole picks will be the winner. If the players are still tied the
player with the highest single non du race score will be winner.
If still tied Wizzo will draw a winner from his top hat
[hopefully a name will be pulled out and not the hat size label]

Check your scores after each race. All scores become official after
one week.right or not

So you rejected my idea of a knife fight then?! Just no pleasing some people, probably a wise choice as my money was on Ju anyway!  :DD

The other solution could be to extend it to the top 10 finishers to be in line with the points scoring now in F1. Would certainly be more of a challenge as the last 4 places in the points are often the most unpredictable.

I also liked the idea of picking the champion and the constructors champion at the start of the season as a tie break decider.

Good tie break suggestions.

...I still think we can have a pre-season WDC and WCC pick.  Maybe if not for a tie break or a prize, we can develop an icon with a wreath or something for the following year for the winner.  Since there would be more chance for a tie in this case (Vettel - RBR), we can offer those same two tie-break options as for the regular GG.

I dunno, it's a great game, with great rules, but shouldn't we always add a bit more spice?   ;)

How about starting under the S/C Dare, does that still count for a point. The rest of the rules look perfect to me and I think that gives you more than enough to check without adding more stuff on.  :good:

I like Stealth's suggestion of having to predict the top 10 finishers, as he says the hardest places to predict in the last couple of years have been 7th to 8th, so guessing 9 & 10 would certainly give the old grey cells a workout.

With reliability now at an all time high I think the top 4 teams filled the top 5 places throughout the year, despite Lewis & Felipe's best efforts not to finish a lot of races.  :D

I seem to recall a problem with spreadsheets restricting the game to 8 finishing places, is that still the case?

I think we talked about that last season or the one before, but if the SC does one lap, then it is considered a SC race and you get a point if you said 'yes'

Yes this is still the case.  The spreadsheet calculation only allows for 8 nested formulas, to go to 10 for predictions I'd need to be able to nest 10 formulas.

Some technical info, the spreadsheet consists of over 5000 hand typed calculations (copy and paste does not work properly and every calcuation needs to be corrected by hand if I do copy and paste).  I actually have to change at leasts 1 design feature of the spreadsheet to allow for changing drivers in the season, so far I am seeing that I will have to make close to 100 calculation adjustments/additions just to cater for this new ability.  In the past when we have had new drivers enter mid season, I've had to modify spreadsheets already populated with data, this can make it quite difficult as I need to preserve the data while making additions and also ensure that the linked calculations aren't affected.

So, hopefully, you all can see why we choose to only select the top 8.
