Let the confusion begin!!
This from Planet F1 shows the awarding of points in a GP especially when its not a full race as in Belgium 2021 but it also shows points awarded for a sprint race.

I don't really have a problem with points being awarded for a race that isn't run, assuming there was a full qualifying session.  If you get pole, and there's no race, it's nice to have something to show for it.

However, it IS nice to have a 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, full race criteria for awarding points.  Assuming F1 sticks to these criteria.

F1 is starting to remind me of the old saying about NASCAR: The rules are written in pencil, not ink.
“You can search the world over for the finer things, but you won't find a match for the American road and the creatures that live on it.”

I find it kinda funny though that teams get praised by fans for finding loopholes in differing interpretations in the rules yet the public goes mad when a Race Director or Stewards go off piste and do pretty much the same thing.  :D  :tease:

As per usual it will be determined by who the stewards are at that particular race and whom they favor.
Long gone is any impartial judging by stewards in today's Liberty run F1.

I think finding loopholes in design and breaking the set rules are quite different.
