Interpreter required - you listening, John Bull?
« on: July 24, 2007, 12:25:06 AM »
Hey, John, over at Keith Collantine's F1 Fanatic (http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/) the video of the Massa/Alonso "discussion" after the race is up.  My wife and I reckon they're speaking Italian but we only have a few words of that language between us.  D'you reckon you could have a listen and let us know what they're really saying?  ;)

Actually, we have an interpretation already, John.  But you could have a look and tell us how accurate it is...

went to f1 insight and read the article on
STR problems.Speed and Luizze are sure
getting a raw deal

This year berger kept Speed waiting
for a contract till the last minute and he
did'nt even drive the car till right before
the session started

Seems like Scott and Tonio have been
team players all along,no bitching about
the crappy car or shoddy treatment.I
can only wish berger all the success
he truly deserves

True, Dare.  I had hoped for better things from Berger as he was a great driver but I guess not all drivers turn out to be good team managers...

I seriously doubt they would be speaking Italian as Alonso speaks Spanish and Massa (being from Brazil) speaks Portuguese.
Both languages are close enough to understand each other.

Have a listen, Willy.  I think you'll find it's Italian.  ;)

It was Italian but I'll get back when I get back into the office this afternoon or this evening, and try and do a translation.

Got a busy morning out of the office.

I kind of guessed that the end of the USGP might also be the end for Speed. It seems like Red Bull's young driver program was a great deal of money spent with very little to show for it.

I'm afraid the video is no longer available for viewing. Spoilsport Bernie got in the way again.

However I was watching when the show was on. The gist of it was Nando basically wanting to wind Massa up and Massa falling for the bait, hook, line and sinker.

Nando started by saying words to the effect that "that wasn't a very smart move was it, but hard luck, it didn't work". Massa, p1ssed off already by the fact that he had led the whole GP except for the important last 4 laps, followed by telling Nando where to go in choice Italian. At that point Nando faced the camera and gestured to the effect that he had won, which again didn't please Massa.

Basically the more Massa showed his feelings the more Nando wound him up.

Pity the video isn't available for a word for word translation.

Thank you Bernie, the lover of Formula 1.

Didn't take FOM long to get rid of that one, did it?  Maybe if everyone keeps re-posting stuff back on YouTube as fast as it disappears, FOM might eventually get the idea that they're trying to eat soup with a fork...?  ;)

According to the translation I read, when Alonso pointed 'angrily' to the mark on his car, Felipe said "Just f**k off. You have got to learn how to f**king drive properly" pretty much to the point I thought.

I don't understand bernie,what harm could
a video after the race with 2 drivers  talking
harm f1?

Indy Car,Champ Car,and Nascar allow vids
to be posted, just another example of fan
friendly f1.

Most organizations would welcome the
added exposure
