F1 teams aiming to end ‘fuel burn’
« on: September 13, 2007, 08:53:30 AM »

Representatives of the teams competing in Formula One met at Monza ahead of last weekend’s Formula One Italian Grand Prix to discuss eliminating the ‘fuel burn’ phase of F1 qualifying.

Under the current rules in the final phase of the three part qualifying session the cars that reach this stage initially complete laps of the circuit carrying race-levels of fuel which are ‘burned’ lightening the car for its final qualifying laps but also earning a driver a 'credit' under which more fuel is allowed to be added to the car before the race.

In a podcast before the meeting Bob Bell, the technical director of the Enstone, UK based Renault Sport F1 team said, "I think we've got to find a way of getting rid of the fuel burning laps, which is just a completely strange thing to do given we're all becoming eco-friendly."

"No Matter how little money and how few possessions, you own, having a dog makes you rich."
