Windows 7 to replace Vista
« on: January 25, 2008, 04:22:05 PM »
Remember not so long ago that the world was buzzing of the prospect of a new operating system from Microsoft called Windows Vista, well as we know this OS failed to capture our imagination and it seems that Microsoft have been working on a solution to this problem, and who would have thought that they would work on a completely new OS.

Windows 7 is what the new operating system is called and the rumors that we have heard is that it will be released in 2010. However according to Ars Technica Windows 7 could be ready by 2009, this does show that Microsoft know that Windows Vista is a bit of a dud.

I had Windows Vista as an upgrade; however I decided to shift back to good old Windows XP.

Windows is getting to be like Star Trek movies - Every other one is a dud. Remember Windows ME? One of the advantages of my job is that I get to see how new OS work on customers' units before switching anything around here. There is NOTHING here at the office, or at my home, on Vista.

The college where I do Text Processing is still getting used to Windows XP (having upgraded last summer). I can't see them upgrading to Vista for a while yet...

Incidentally, some of the new features (like the new way of tabbing) would be pretty much entirely unusable for me. If Vista doesn't have the old way of tabbing hidden away somewhere, then I can guarantee I will never use Vista, regardless of what software might demand it.
