Just turn up in your Pirate gear - I guarantee they will turn you away.  :D

Nor me either Neil, I know a few people who have been in front of a jury though.  :DD

I've had it twice in the past few years - 1 city and 1 county. When they ask if you can render an impartial verdict, just say, "Of course! The Voices know everything!"

tell them your self employed and it would
impose a financial hardship on you

rethinking your question are you sure it
wasn't a summons to appear in court

When I first saw the letter I did actually think they'd finally caught up with me :D

I'm self-employed, does that make a difference to what I can claim?

No. The items and allowance levels are the same for all jurors. However, if you are self-employed, you will have to provide the court with some evidence of your loss of earnings. Where available, you may wish to consult your accountant on this.

Start date: 16th Feb

Here in Louisville,Kentucky jury duty pays
a whopping $12.50 per day.Now you see
why everyone attempts to get out of it

Being self employed won't get you out of it.  A mate of mine got called up and he was starting a job in a different country 5 or 6 weeks later.  Despite the fact that it could be a long case it didn't get him out of it.  His son also got called up just before his final exams at university and that didn't get him out of it either.

I think nowadays it is a lot harder to get away from it.

Thanks Steven, looks like I'll have to put my claims form in at the end and see what they give me.
