EJ confirms a one year extension for his contract at the Beeb.
No doubt Eddie will want to be at as many races as humanly possible, shirtmakers the world over must be relieved. Eddie Jordan will continue as a lead pundit on BBC's F1 coverage next season, after signing a new deal with the broadcaster, while Sky has also confirmed its personnel line-up for 2012. Jordan joined the BBC's presentation team when the state broadcaster won the rights from ITV in 2009, and will continue with them for a fourth year in 2012 when they will be showing only 10 races live as part of a rights sharing deal with Sky Sports.
Speaking to RTÉ Radio 1 yesterday evening after being inducted into the Irish Motorsport Hall of Fame, Jordan confirmed the one-year extension.
“I've done three years with them now. I've just renewed for next year and we'll see what happens after that,” said Jordan. “What I don't want to do at this stage in my life is commit to long-term contracts. If I'm good enough they'll continue with me, if I'm not they'll replace me.”
Jordan's confirmation at the BBC slots another piece in place in the Sky/BBC puzzle, with Jake Humphrey and Lee McKenzie having previously confirmed they will be staying. David Coulthard is also due to remain at the broadcaster, with commentator Ben Edwards expected to be confirmed shortly also.
